Nicole Bowman
DESIGNER + MAKER
Hello, and welcome to my garden and studio. Here, I happily dig and snip and collect, and arrange and design with the seasons.
In my first ‘life’, I studied and worked in the social sciences before retraining in landscape design in my late 30’s. I’ve always had a deep interest in how people and communities thrive, and I intrinsically believe that our connection to a slower pace of the natural world is a crucial part of this.
The joy of the work for me is truly in the ‘thinking’ and ‘solving’ and ‘doing’, and my resolve to constantly improve comes from both book knowledge and lived experience that a deeper connection to nature helps us connect to ourselves and each other as humans. The natural world has great capacity to encourage, cheer and bring joy, even in the smallest, most imperfect ways.
And so I learn as I go, with a true ‘philomath’ spirit, across mediums (but always with nature), and aim to bring little moments of shared joy and humanity to others through my work.
